Tools You Can Actually Use. Begin your journey with structured psychotherapy tailored for you. Book Now “When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.” - Victor Frankl About Me Welcome — I’m Dr. Gallenson ! I’m a licensed clinical psychologist who works with adults navigating anxiety, overthinking, burnout, identity concerns, and the strain that comes with high expectations. Many of my clients function at a very high level but feel internally stretched, depleted, or disconnected. They come to therapy wanting relief, but also wanting to understand the patterns that keep them stuck—patterns that once helped them cope but now cost more than they give. I see therapy as a space where we examine these patterns with honesty and curiosity. My style is warm, engaged, and collaborative. I work to understand how you’ve learned to move through the world, how stress shows up in your body and relationships, and what gets in the way of feeling steady. Together, we tune into the internal signals that often get muted by pressure and performance—the anxious thoughts beneath your efficiency, the emotional strain behind constant striving, and the deeper self that’s been overshadowed by coping. How I Work My approach blends evidence-based interventions with depth-oriented therapy. You’ll find structure where it’s helpful—tools from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)—alongside deeper work that explores the emotional and relational themes shaping your experience. We examine what’s happening beneath the surface while building practical strategies that help you feel more grounded, clear, and in control of your life. I specialize in working with: High-achieving adults and professionals Individuals experiencing chronic anxiety or decision fatigue LGBTQ+ clients seeking affirming care College and graduate students under pressure People navigating burnout, relational stress, or perfectionism Adults seeking diagnostic clarity through psychological assessment Therapy with me is collaborative and active. We observe patterns as they emerge, understand where they come from, and develop new ways of relating to yourself and the demands around you. Insight and action inform each other, helping change take root in a realistic and sustainable way. My Training and Background I earned my doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University and trained across university counseling centers, hospital settings, and VA medical centers. My clinical background includes extensive work with college populations, LGBTQ+ adults, neuropsychological and personality assessment, and evidence-based treatments for anxiety, stress, and trauma-related concerns. My training includes CBT, ACT, CPT, DBT, ERP, psychodynamic psychotherapy, and somatic approaches. My research has focused on peer support specialists with lived experience of mental illness and how their perspectives contribute uniquely to recovery from depressive disorders. This blend of clinical rigor and real-world experience allows me to hold the science of psychology alongside the human reality of it, offering treatment that is both grounded and deeply personal. If You’re Seeking Therapy in California If you’re feeling stuck in patterns that no amount of achievement seems to shift, or if you’re ready to understand yourself with more clarity and compassion, I can help. When you’re ready, reach out—we’ll work at a pace that feels intentional, supportive, and genuinely helpful. CV Individual Therapy I provide individual therapy for adults in California who want relief from anxiety, stress, burnout, and perfectionism. My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded, blending evidence-based anxiety treatment with deeper relational work to help you understand the patterns shaping your overwhelm, relationships, and sense of self. In session, we slow things down, explore the emotions and stories beneath the surface, and build practical tools that help you feel calmer, more confident, and more connected to who you are. I specialize in anxiety therapy, burnout recovery, LGBTQ-affirming therapy, and support for high-achieving professionals seeking meaningful, lasting change through online therapy in California. Psychological Assessment I provide comprehensive psychological assessment for adults seeking clarity about attention, learning, personality structure, and overall emotional functioning. My evaluations offer a precise, clinically grounded understanding of your cognitive strengths, executive functioning, information-processing style, and the factors contributing to your current symptoms. I conduct assessments for ADHD, differential diagnosis, learning and academic concerns, and complex mental health presentations that require a deeper diagnostic formulation. Each evaluation includes a clear, personalized interpretation of test results, a diagnostic profile when appropriate, and evidence-based recommendations you can implement immediately. All findings are delivered with care, clarity, and respect to help you understand what is happening and what to do next. Professional Consultation I offer clinical consultation for therapists, educators, and organizations seeking expert guidance on complex cases, psychological assessment, and work with LGBTQ clients and high-achieving adults. My consultation style is collaborative, structured, and grounded in real-world clinical experience across university counseling, psychological testing, and adult mental health. Together we review clinical formulations, clarify diagnostic questions, refine assessment strategy, and develop next-step interventions that enhance clinical judgment and effectiveness.
